Explosion in Daegu kills, 2 policemen, injures 11

A series of explosions in a propane-gas delivery store and a neighboring paint shop in Daegu killed two police officers and injured 11 residents, police said Tuesday.
The explosion first started at the gas delivery store and caused a series of explosions at a paint shop full of paint thinner on Monday night, police said.
The police officers, only identified as Nam and Chung, had been patrolling the neighborhood at the time of the blast. Their bodies were found about 10 meters away from the scene by firefighters.
A worker at the gas delivery store, 29, who was staying at the office watching TV, sustained burns all over his body from the explosion. Police have yet to find the cause of the explosion.
“We will conduct a thorough examination in cooperation with the National Institute of Science Investigation to determine what caused the explosion,” a police officer said.
Firefighters extinguished the fire in 30 minutes, with the property damage estimated at 150 million won.
