JAKARTA: The Jakarta Health Agency has opened a free health clinic for residents displaced by the fire that gutted over 200 houses in Pekojan subdistrict, Tambora, West Jakarta on Saturday.
Agency head Dien Emmawati said that most of the 73 patients being treated at the clinic suffered from minor burns and nausea. “We will refer patients with serious problems to the hospital. The administration will pay all expenses,” she was quoted as saying by kompas.com on Sunday at the clinic.
Two children died in the fire that started at about 1:15 p.m., while a firefighter suffered from asphyxiation.
Dien said the agency had also anticipated possible health problems in the refuge shelter. “We are supplying clean water to the shelter to prevent diarrhea,” she said.
