Fire razes 15 houses

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — A total of 15 houses, most of which were made of light materials, went up in smoke when a fire struck sitio Causeway of Brgy. Poblacion I in this city at 2 p.m. the other day.
No one was hurt by the blaze, but City Fire Dept. investigator, SFO3 Geronides Gonzaga, said the damage to property was estimated to reach P800,000, based on initial findings.
Gonzaga said the source of the fire has yet to be determined by probers, although some residents here said it started from a house where a lighted candle was left unattended.
The fire quickly spread to nearby houses in the area that was near the sub-office of the Fire Dept at the old City Hall. It took several minutes to control the fire, said Gonzaga, adding that firefighters from the city were helped by those from the Alturas Company, Bohol Quality and the towns of Cortes, Baclayon, Panglao, Maribojoc and Dauis. — (FREEMAN)
