Alcohol Factory Loses RM500,000 In Fire

BUTTERWORTH, Aug 1 (Bernama) — An alcohol factory in Jalan Perusahaan 1, Prai, here incurred losses of more than RM500,000 after the processing area on the fourth floor was burnt down last night.
Perai Fire and Rescue Department chief A’azelan Hassan said his department received a phone call regarding the fire at 9.46pm and arrived at the scene two minutes later.
“When we arrived there, the fire was raging on the fourth floor of the five-storey building used as alcohol processing area,” he said when contacted here today.
A’azelan said firemen took around fifteen minutes to control and prevent the fire from spreading to other floors and it was put out at 10.21pm.
Three officers and 22 firemen on four fire engines from Perai and Perda fire stations were involved in the firefighting operation.
