Marikina fire kills seniors, razes P300k in property

At least two senior citizens were killed in a fire that hit their house at the SSS Village in Barangay Concepcion 2 in Marikina City before dawn Saturday.
The remains of the victims, initially identified only as 74-year-old Fernando and 68-year-old Boy, were found in their concrete house, radio dzBB’s Manny Vargas reported.
Neighbors said the two seniors had been living by themselves in the house for the past month,
Firefighters said it was not immediately clear if the two died from suffocation or burns.
Meanwhile, a firefighter initially identified as Oliver Rafael sustained head injuries.
Arson investigators estimated the property damage from the fire at P300,000.
They also said the fire started about 2:45 a.m. and reached the second alarm. It was put out before 4 a.m.
Arson investigators are looking into what caused the fire. — DVM, GMA News
