JAIPUR: A major fire broke out at a factory at Lal Kothi Sabji mandi (vegetable market) area on Saturday. Around 15 shops and goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted.
The labourers who were sleeping near the area also had a narrow escape. Jaipur Muncipal Corporation (JMC), chief fire officer, Ishwar Lal Jat said, “It took 20 fire tenders more than six hours to douse the flames. Shops of many poor people were gutted causing a huge loss. However, the loss due to the fire could not be ascertained.”
The officer added that the fire spread across the market within minutes. “There were a lot of cardboard boxes in the market making it difficult for the fire tenders to control the fire.”
“We have launched an investigation, however, no FIR was registered,” the officer added.
