Medical student set on fire in Karnataka dies

MAHBUBNAGAR: Kameshwar Sai Prasad, an MBBS final year student who was set ablaze by two unidenfitied miscreants in Kolar town of Karnataka on November 13, died at St John’s Medical College Hospital in Bangalore on Tuesday while undergoing treatment. He had suffered third degree burns.
Prasad was pursuing MBBS at Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar. On the way back to his hostel after offering prayers at a local Hanuman temple, some unidentified persons poured petrol and set him on fire. Prasad was a native of Kalwakurthy town in Mahbubnagar district. His father Laxmana Sarma is the president of Kalwakurthy Bar Association. Local advocates and leaders went to Bangalore to ascertain the actual reason behind the attack.
A team of doctors from Mumbai performed a surgery on Sai Prasad on Monday, said Kalwakurthy TRS leader Balaji Naik who was in Bangalore with the boy’s parents.
Kalwakurthy town observed a complete bandh on Tuesday. Information minister DK Aruna, local MP M Jaganatham, district collector M Girija Shankar, and joint collector L Sharman conveyed condolences to the family of the deceased.
