Palghar: Two workers suffer burns in Tarapur drug factory fire
Updated: 2021-02-13
MUMBAI: Two workers sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out in a drug manufacturing company in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on Saturday morning.
The fire broke out at the Bajaj Healthcare Private Limited’s plot N-126 in Tarapur at around 11.30am.
Two fire tenders reached the spot and managed to douse the blaze before it could spread to neighbouring units.
Boisar MIDC fire brigade officer Manish Sawant said preliminary investigations suggest that a spark due to static electricity could have caused the fire.
The officials from the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH), Vasai will submit its report on the cause of the fire.
A case has been registered at Boisar MIDC Police Station.
Nilesh Borse (29), the injured, has suffered 50 per cent burn injuries. He is admitted to Thunga hospital in Boisar.
The other worker sustained minor burn injuries and was admitted to the hospital as his Blood Pressure (BP) shot up, said the police.
