4 die, three injured in separate road mishaps in Barmer

JAISALMER: Four people died and three were injured in two separate accidents in Barmer district. In the first accident, there was a collision between a trailer and a tanker in which both vehicles caught fire. The driver and cleaner of the tanker were burnt alive, while two persons in the trailer were seriously injured and are being treated in Jodhpur
The highway remained jammed for many hours. The fire was doused after five hours. Barmer SP Anand Sharma said on Friday late night, a tanker carrying crude oil from Gujarat was going towards Barmer, while a trailer carrying sand from
Kolayat (Bikaner) was going towards Gujarat. Both vehicles collided head on near Naya Nagar village on mega highway under RGT police station. Both vehicles caught fire in which the driver and cleaner of the tanker were burnt alive. The deceased have been identified as Ganpat Ram Jat, 29, and Chandna Ram Jat, both residents of Sheo in Barmer.
He further said on receiving information, RGT SHO Chandna Ram Kumawat reached the spot and started the rescue operation.
The SHO said two fire brigades from Balotara and a fire tender from Rageshwari reached the spot, but by then the tanker was gutted to ashes.
In another incident, a tanker and a jeep collided on a mega highway near Balotara in which two persons died on the spot.
