62-year-old charred to death in Indore restaurant fire
INDORE: A 62-year-old man died and five shops were gutted after a massive fire broke out at a restaurant in Indore’s Navlakha due to short circuit on Friday morning.
The deceased, Bansi Saluja was sleeping inside when the fire broke out. Four more commercial establishments, including a footwear store, a bookstore, optical shop, and a pharmacy store, located adjacent to the restaurant were gutted in the incident that took place around 07.55am.
After noticing fire, the owner called fire department. Fire tenders arrived within fifteen minutes, it took almost two hours to douse the fire.
“Two fire tenders and 10 tankers of water were used to douse the fire,” said RC Pandit, fire official. They had to cut and remove the restaurant’s shutter to save the man stuck inside but they could not save him. A short circuit in the restaurant’s main supply connection panel was seen as the possible reason behind the fire.
