Two burnt alive as truck catches fire in Telangana

The incident happened at Uppal industrial area during the early hours of Wednesday.

HYDERABAD: Two persons were charred to death when a container truck caught fire after coming in contact with an overhead electric line at Uppal in Telangana, on Wednesday.

Some cars in the container truck were also damaged in the fire.

The deceased have been identified as Shehzad(38),from Rajasthan, and Ganga Sagar (50) who was a native of Bihar.

According to police, a container truck carrying cars came in contact with overhead live electric wires at the industrial area.

“When the driver was trying to park the vehicle on the roadside, the top portion of the container came in contact with the electric wires. Sparks emanated and while trying to get down from the vehicle, the driver and his aide were electrocuted. They collapsed on the road next to the front tyre and their bodies were burnt in the fire which engulfed the front portion of the truck,” said Uppal SI, Anjaiah.

The truck arrived from Rajasthan to Hyderabad with a load of six cars and police said that the cars were also damaged before the fire tender doused the fire at around 2am.
