More than 100 houses destroyed in Cebu City fire – Report

More than 100 families lost their homes in a fire that hit a residential area of Cebu City on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out in Sitios Laray and Caimito in Barangay Carreta in the city, radio dzBB reported early Wednesday.
While arson investigators initially estimated the damage to be in the millions of pesos, no casualties were reported.
The fire started at a bakery in the village at about 3 p.m., then spread quickly to nearby houses, many of which were made of light materials.
A general alarm was declared, and all available firefighters in the area were summoned to help fight the blaze.
The fire was eventually placed under control at 4:35 p.m.
Investigators are verifying information a short circuit from an illegal electrical connection may have caused the fire. — DVM, GMA News
