According to a report on “24 Oras,” Amerah Macamlimpao Anggay and her family went to the capital looking for better opportunities.
They faced tragedy yet again, however, as the place they are renting in Barangay 650 is among the 500 homes engulfed by flames on Wednesday.
“I saw the fire, it was even higher than our house,” Amerah said in Filipino. She then focused on getting her child to safety.
“It’s ok to lose our things as long as we can save our lives,” she added.
The barangay officials are having a difficult time finding a temporary place to stay for the over 1,000 families affected by the fire.
To address their day to day needs, the GMA Kapuso Foundation distributed grocery packs with water, rice, noodles, canned goods, diapers, and hygiene kits. A total of 4,800 individuals received the aid.
The Kapuso Foundation is still accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuiller, and Pay Maya. Vouchers can also be bought from Shopee and Zalora.
