Fire destroys fishing boat in Kerala

KOCHI: A blaze engulfed a fishing boat anchored at a river at Kunjithai in North Paravoor on Wednesday evening. The boat, Jewel, has almost been completely destroyed in the fire.
The incident happened around 4.15pm on Wednesday. The was anchored along with other fishing boats in the river which is a tributary of Periyar. People who were on the spot untied the boat so as to avoid the fire from spreading into other boats. Later it was brought to the shore and the fire was doused. Fire force personnel said that a shortcircuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire.
“We received a call around 4.20pm. Soon, fire tenders were dispatched and the fire was brought under control by 6pm. It was completely doused by 6.30pm. Apart from the two fire units from North Paravoor fire station, another unit from was called in,” said a fire force official.
