Fire breaks out in bank in Shahibaug

AHMEDABAD: A major tragedy was averted on Friday after a fire broke out in the air-conditioning unit of the Shahibaug branch of The Gujarat State Co-operative Bank Limited. As soon the fire spread, the bank staff and customers immediately rushed out of the bank.
The firemen had to rush three fire-fighters to the spot to control the fire.
The firemen had to enter the bank amidst smoke. This made it difficult for them to tackle the fire. The fire officials said that sensing trouble, members of the other shops in the complex also rushed out.
However, timely action averted a major tragedy and the fire did not spread.
The loss to the bank and other details are being worked out. The firemen said the fire could have taken place due to short circuit.
