40 market kiosks destroyed in huge fire

HA NOI (VNS)— Nearly 40 kiosks selling clothes and shoes were destroyed by fire at the Nha Xanh (Green House) market in Cau Giay District this morning.
According to officials at Ha Noi’s Department of Firefighting and Prevention, the fire began in a corner of the market at around 6.15AM, but was not put out until two hours later after the department’s deployment of trucks and firefighters. Delays were caused by the narrow road leading to the market, witnesses said.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
Located in Phan Van Truong Street, Nha Xanh market is said to frequently cause traffic congestion and proposals have frequently urged shutting the market down. —VNS
