Fire destroys house in Bengkurong Masin

THERE will not be any New Year celebration for a family in Kg Burong Lepas, Bengkurong Masin after their home was gutted by fire yesterday morning.
The blaze which started around 9am destroyed the bungalow house and damaged the wall of the house next to it.
A total of 13 firefighters with four fire engines from two fire stations namely Pangkalan Batu and BSB arrived at the scene after a distress call was received at 9.03 am.
Led by Assistant Senior Superintendent Hj Nordin bin Hj Buntan from Pangkalan Batu Fire Station and Assistant Senior Superintendent Hanis Hj Suboh of BSB Fire Station, the fire was brought under control within ten minutes.
According to the Public Relations Officer of Fire and Rescue Services, damages to property are estimated around $57,000.
From the initial investigation, the cause of the fire was due to cooking left unattended.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the fire.
