Fire breaks out at primary health centre in Namakkal
Updated: 2021-08-01
Namakkal: A small fire broke out at the primary health centre (PHC) at Seetharampalayam near Tiruchenngodu on Saturday morning. No one was injured in the incident.
An official source said the PHC staff members had found smoke emanating from the store room when they came to report for duty in the morning. “We had kept acids and chlorine powder in the room. We tried to put out the fire, but in vain,” a staffer said.
They immediately alerted the fire and rescue services personnel, who brought the flames under control after an hour’s struggle.
Tiruchenngodu MLA Eswaran and former AIADMK MLA Pon Saraswathi visited the PHC.
Residents of Seetharampalayam, meanwhile, requested Eswaran to arrange Covid vaccination at the PHC. Pointing out that he had already contacted health department officials regarding this, the MLA said the vaccines would arrive at the centre in a couple of days.
The Tiruchenngodu police have registered a case in connection with the fire incident and initiated inquiry.
