TAGBILARAN CITY – Firefighters in Guindulman town contained the grass fire in the mountain village of Lombog on Friday morning.
According to FO1 Mark Angelo Rizano of the Guindulman Fire Station, a grass fire sparked up in Barangay Lombog, at least 20 kilometers from the town proper, at around 12:15 p.m. Thursday.
Firefighters responded but they were confronted with difficulties since their truck cannot reach the mountainous terrain.
Rizano said the fire was contained at 1 a.m. Friday after 12 hours of battling the raze.
He said the grassfire damaged at least 20 hectares of grass, bushes, and trees.
There were no reports of casualties or damage to property.
Rizano suspected that the dry weather had caused the grassfire. The mountains with dried cogon grass can easily catch fire due to the prevailing dry condition. — BAP, GMA News
