Gujarat: Major fire breaks out in firecrackers godown in Anand, no casualties reported

ANAND: A major fire broke out in a building that housed godown of firecrackers in Anand town on Monday.
The incident happened in the building that is located right opposite Anand Nagar Sevasadan.
The fire in the godown spread not only on the upper floor of the building where the crackers were stored but engulfed the entire building and spread even to another building located adjacent to it.
Both the buildings are of three floors each.

Although there were no reports of any injury or casualty due to the fire, around seven two wheelers and one four-wheeler that were parked adjacent to the building got damaged in the fire.
Bundles of black smoke emitting out of the building due to the fire could be seen from far away while loud noise of bursting of firecrackers was literally nerve-racking.
The building that housed the godown is locally known as Mayur sales complex. “The noise was so loud that I faced temporary hearing loss,” a photographer who was present at the spot told TOI.
Cops too had a hard time dispersing the crowd of onlookers and residents who had started gathering from nearby areas. Later, the entire area was cordoned by the police.
The fire fighters continued their attempts to douse the fire in both the buildings till late evening.
