No cause for alarm over BGC construction site fire —Taguig LGU
Updated: 2021-08-12
The local government of Taguig City on Thursday allayed public fears following the fire that broke out at a construction site in Bonifacio Global City on Wednesday night.
“The Taguig City Government assures the public that there is no cause for alarm following a fire that gutted a construction site on 21st Drive in BGC, Taguig City, past 6 p.m. on Wednesday,” the local government said in a statement.
The Taguig government said based on initial investigation, a construction worker accidentally struck a gas pipe at the site that resulted in an explosion and caused the fire.
The fire was confined at the construction site, but evacuation was conducted for those near the surrounding commercial properties for their safety, it said.
The fire reached the first alarm and was declared out at 9:35 p.m.
An on-duty project safety officer sustained injuries and was rushed to St. Luke’s Medical Center for treatment. He is now in a stable condition.
No other casualties were reported, the local government said.
