KANPUR: A major fire broke out on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday in two battery cabinet manufacturing factories located at Dada Nagar Industrial Area Site number 5 of Govind Nagar police station area in Kanpur.
The fire also engulfed another adjacent unit of the battery cabinet factory.
After getting information, about 16 fire tenders arrived from the fire stations.
Efforts to put out the fire continued throughout the night.
The loss is expected to be in several crore due to the fire.
Govindnagar resident Satish Grover, his son Tanuj Grover and Saurabh have two adjacent factories for making plastic sheets and battery cabinets under the name TG Industry at the site no. 5 C block.
“At around 1.15am, a fire broke out in the MCB installed in the switch panel on the second floor of Tanuj’s factory due to a short circuit,” said Satish.
Seeing the flames, he reached upstairs and along with workers started extinguishing the fire, but in vain.
Satish apprised Tanuj, who further dialled fire brigade’s Emergency number, but did not get any respond.
Meanwhile, the fire also engulfed his third factory.
After this, Satish himself reached the Fazalganj fire station and informed the fire brigade.
Later, 16 fire tenders reached the spot and doused the fire.
“About 16 fire tenders were pressed into service till 4am to douse the fire,” said MP Singh, chief fire officer.
