4 hurt, hundreds of families affected in Muntinlupa fire

At least four people were injured and hundreds of families lost there home after a fire razed a residential area in Muntinlupa City Wednesday night.
Firefighters had difficulty controlling the fire along Guillermo Street in Bayanan village as the houses were bunched together, radio dzBB’s Paulo Santos reported early Thursday.
While the report did not immediately identify the four injured, the injuries were called “minor.” Some of those injured were hurt while trying to save their belongings.
While radio dzBB reported that 300 families were affected, a report by GMA News’ Mav Gonzales said as many as 600 families had been affected.
The fire reached the fifth alarm past 9 p.m., with firefighters managing to put it out by 11:25 p.m.
Arson investigators are verifying information that the fire stemmed from a firecracker.
However, the GMA TV report said investigators are also looking into an electrical short circuit as a possible cause.
Meantime, the affected families were evacuated to a nearby school. — DVM, GMA News
