Fire in Manesar factory, no injuries
Updated: 2021-10-01
Gurgaon: A plastic parts manufacturing factory caught fire at IMT Manesar early Thursday morning. No injuries were reported. The fire was brought under control in two hours. The damage is yet to be determined.
The two-storey factory manufactures accessories for automobiles. Around 3.20am, security guards stationed at the gate noticed smoke emerging from the first floor and one of them immediately informed the fire department.
“The fire spread rapidly within minutes. All the plastic material and equipment were gutted. It took us two hours and about 25 firefighters to douse the flames. We are able to control the situation around 5.30am,” said Gulshan Kalra, deputy director, fire department.
Nine fire tenders — seven from Manesar, Sector 29, Udyog Vihar and Bhim Nagar fire stations and two private ones from Maruti and Honda — were pressed into service for the purpose.
“It appears to be a short circuit, but a detailed investigation would confirm that. Many workers would have been affected had it happened during the day,” said a police official.
In June, a fire had broken out at a waste management factory in Sector 4 in Manesar. Last year, there was a blaze at Meenakshi Polimers Pvt Ltd, a factory manufacturing seat covers in Manesar’s Sector 3.
