BHIWANDI: Around 30 shops were gutted in a major fire that broke out in Thane district’s Bhiwandi on Friday late night.
The fire broke out at around 11pm on Friday in a furniture godown. Later, it spread to adjoining shops. The blaze was controlled after five hours of operation at 4.47 am on Saturday.
The fire brigade official said that the fire broke out in a furniture warehouse situated at Chamunda complex, near Kasheli toll naka in Bhiwandi.
At least three fire vehicles, four private tankers were used, and help was also taken from the Thane fire team to douse the blaze.
No person was injured in the incident. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
