Father‚ son die in blaze

RAJBIRAJ: A fire yesterday night claimed a father and his only son in Ghoghanpur, Saptari, leaving the entire village shocked. Sixty-year-old Nageshwor Sah and his 16-year-old Khilananda died after a fire engulfed their shop — Sah General Stores in Ghoghanpur at night.
It is said the fire started while Khilananda was studying in a room behind the shop and his father had gone out after a meal. “When Sah came to know, he plunged into the fire to save his son but he too could not save himself,” said inspector Bijaya Kumar Yadav, in-charge of Kanchanpur Area Police Office, adding that they were yet to find out how the blaze started. Khilananda was a tenth-grader at a local school.
Locals suspect the fire spread in no time due to petroleum products, cooking oil, and other combustible materials kept inside the shop. Police estimated that the fire damaged property worth around 3 million rupees in. News of the death of two family members in a single incident has completely shattered the family. Meanwhile, the bodies of the father and son have been brought to Sagarmatha Zonal Hosptial for post mortem.
Ghoghanpur bazaar remained shut today to mourn the deaths.
