A man was seriously injured and two vehicles gutted in a fire at a petrol station in O’Ambel commune of Banteay Meanchey province’s Sisophon town on October 29. NATIONAL POLICE
A man was seriously injured and two vehicles gutted in a fire at a petrol station in O’Ambel commune of Banteay Meanchey province’s Sisophon town on October 29.
According to the National Police report, the fire was likely caused by an electrical fault.
It said that before the incident, the injured man, who owns the station, was transferring petrol from the underground storage to a tanker using an electrical pumping motor when its socket short-circuited, sending up sparks that ignited the fire.
The blaze destroyed the tanker and a nearby compact car along with 500 litres of petrol.
The report said firefighters used three fire engines and three truckloads of water to put out the blaze.
