Minor dead after car gutted by fire in Raipur

RAIPUR: A 15-year-old was charred to death while two others sustained severe burns after their car lost balance and hit down stray cattle on roadside, further ramming a shop before going up in flames. The boys didn’t get time to get off the car leading to severe injuries and a casualty.
Police said that the incident took place in the wee hours on Monday at Telibandha in state capital.
Condition of the other two remains critical and are under treatment at Dr BR Ambedkar hospital.
The three friends were heading towards VIP road via Telibandha and it was still dark, when one of them who was driving couldn’t judge the presence of a stray cow standing on the road. Suddenly hitting the cow, the car lost control over wheels and rammed into a shop, going up in flames within seconds.
The passersby somehow pulled the three victims out of the car and rushed to hospital, where the minor boy succumbed to burns.
Police said that the impact was such that the stray animal also died on the spot.
However, the exact cause of the accident is being probed and considering it to be a case involving minors, police didn’t divulge much information. It is not known if they were under the influence of alcohol and what took them out on streets in the wee hours.
A case was lodged at Telibandha police station under sections of rash driving causing hurt and death. The deceased was identified as Rahul Nishad.
