HA NOI (VNS) — A third-year female student was killed in a fire that broke out in a rented house on Van Phuc Street, Ha Noi’s Ba Dinh District, on Thursday morning.
Local residents said the fire started in a room on the second floor and spread rapidly to the rest of the rooms due to the dry weather in the region.
The two-storey house and many of the valuable items inside, such as motorbikes, television sets and computers, were completely destroyed in the blaze.
Pham Van Thinh, chairman of the Lieu Giai Ward, said the house had been illegally built on land that had been scheduled to be cleared. — VNS
