THANE: Traffic movement on Ghodbunder road was affected after a mobile van used for checking air pollution levels caught fire at Nagla bunder on Friday afternoon.
The van belongs to the Government of India. Police said the van was waiting at the signal when the driver, Sanjay Chavan, noticed smoke from the engine and immediately alerted the three co-travellers to alight following which the vehicle went up in flames within minutes, informed Balasaheb Patil, deputy police commissioner, traffic.
Civic officials have doused the fire and vehicle is being shifted to roadside clearing path for other vehicles, police said. Cause of blaze to be probed. No injury or casualty reported.
