Brothers Die In Lahad Datu Fire

LAHAD DATU, Jan 3 (Bernama) — Two brothers were burnt alive in a fire at a house in Kampung Teck Guan Batu Satu, here, today.
Lahad Datu District Fire and Rescue Station chief, Mohd Apandi Mahmood said the brothers, identified as Mohd Firul Azhar Tamrin, 5, and Mohd Nur Jihad Tamrin, 2, were found close to each other in a room.
“We received an emergency call at 12.45pm. Two fire-engines with seven firemen led by operations chief Abu Bakar Taraji were despatched to the scene and found 95 per cent of the house engulfed by fire,” he said when contacted, here, today.
Mohd Apandi said the firemen succeeded in controlling the fire at about 1.13pm and put it out 21 minutes later.
He said during the incident, the victims’ mother was at work while their father, Tamrin Sumaila, 31, had gone to the mosque for Friday prayers.
The cause of the fire and estimated losses were still being investigated, he said.
