SINGAPORE – The security guards at a Tuas building noticed white smoke coming out of a container truck parked on the fourth floor on Monday (Dec 27).
After inspecting the truck and finding it hot, they quickly called the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) at around 5.30pm.
Officers rushed down to put out the fire in the truck parked at the building at No. 9 Tuas South Avenue 10.
According to a 26-year-old-factory worker who requested to be anonymous, the truck is believed to be carrying computers, printers, televisions and other electrical appliances.
SCDF said 25 people were evacuated from the building. While putting out the fire, one firefighter injured his elbow and had to be taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
He was conscious and in a stable condition and is now recuperating at home. No other injuries were reported.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation,” said SCDF.
