Mumbai: Fire in furniture scrap shop in Ghatkopar, no injuries

MUMBAI: A fire broke out at a furniture scrap shop in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area on Monday morning.
The blaze erupted at around 10.30am in the shop at D’Silva Compound in Sunder Baug area of Asalfa locality.
Officials said that the scrap shop is surrounded by slum units.
“The fire brigade has arrived at the spot. Eight fire engines and water tankers are battling the blaze,” they added.
Asalfa is a hilly area. There are a lot of slums on the hill.
“The fire is likely to flare up further as the area is densely populated. As soon as the locals came to know about the fire, some of the workers rushed out. There were no immediate reports of injuries or severe damage,” the officials said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. (With inputs from PTI)
