A fire levelled a storage facility of bag factory Outdoor Gear (Cambodia) Co Ltd in western Takeo province on January 21, destroying tonnes of materials. No human casualties were reported.
The fire was caused by an electrical malfunction, razing the 35m-by-40m zinc-roofed building in Sra Nge village of northeastern Tram Kak district’s Uddom Soriya commune, district police reported.
Items in the facility destroyed by the blaze include 10 tonnes of folded cardboard boxes, 2,000 boxes of shirts and 50 tonnes of polyethylene foam, police said, adding that nearby, a cement mixer, container lorry and four motorbikes were gutted in the blaze.
The fire broke out at 11:30am and was extinguished at 7:30pm, with 19 fire engines and 82 water tankers deployed. Police affirmed that flames did not spread to nearby homes.
