Warehouses lost in Bt80m blaze
Updated: 2013-01-01-01:00AM
Two chemical-substance and fertiliser warehouses were burned down in Chachoengsao’s Bang Nam Prieo district yesterday, causing Bt80 million in losses. Fifteen fire trucks went to the warehouses to fight the blaze.
Prissana Kengkanphanich, 41, a relative of the warehouses’ owner, said the buildings housed hundreds of tonnes of chemical substances and fertilisers for agricultural use. As all the workers had taken leave to celebrate the New Year festival, no one was on duty there.
She said villagers saw smoke at 10am but they did not think the fire had broken out at the warehouse until they saw the flames at noon. She estimated that the damaged chemicals, fertilisers and buildings were worth at least Bt80 million.
Police said a short circuit could have caused the fire.
