Chandigarh: An unknown man set a car on fire in Sector 20 in the early hours of Saturday in a case of arson caught on camera.
Raj Kumar Jakhar had parked his Maruti Baleno outside his house slept on Friday night. Around 4.30 am, he heard a loud noise. When he stepped out of his house, he found his car engulfed in flames. Firefighters doused the flames within 20 minutes, but the car was damaged. However, the entire car was gutted in the fire.
Scanning footage from cameras, cops found a person reached the spot on a Honda Activa scooter at 4.31 am, poured petrol on the car and torched it. Jakhar suspects a neighbour. Police registered a case.
On December 29, 2021, unidentified miscreants set an MLA’s SUV on fire at Haryana MLA hostel in sector 3 . Later, police arrested three persons in the case. On July 10, 2021, a Mahindra XUV-500 was set on fire at Hallomajra.
