MUMBAI: A fire broke out on Friday night in Dreams Mall at Bhandup (West). Eight fire engines, four jumbo water tankers and an ambulance had been rushed to the site. This is the same mall where a fire last March had killed nine persons.
Two more bodies recovered were of patients who had died of Covid earlier, the hospital had said.
However, fire brigade officials said that as per preliminary information there is no one trapped in the fire this time.
Officials said that the mall has been shut since the hospital fire of March 25 fire last year.
Friday’s fire was reported around 7.56 pm. Till the time of going to press fire fighting was still going on.
Fire was confined to packing materials, wooden furniture, wooden materials in 30- 40 closed shops on the upper ground floor at the south side of the mall.
A fire official said, “The mall is shut since the Sunrise hospital fire last year. So far fire brigade has not encountered anyone trapped. However, the whole mall is now smoke-logged which is hampering fire fighting operations.”
