Fire Destroys Restaurant And Cyber Cafe In Telupid

BELURAN, Jan 13 (Bernama) — A restaurant and a cyber cafe were destroyed in a fire in Telupid last night.
The Operations Supervisor of the Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station, Syamzari Zanith said the station received an emergency call at 8.45pm and despatched a fire engine with four personnel to the scene.
He said because of the distance of the fire which was located about 100 kilometres away, the firemen only arrived at the scene at 10.20pm.
He said that upon arrival at the scene, the whole building where the restaurant and cyber cafe were located had been completely burnt.
He said that the cause of the fire and losses were still being investigated.
Meanwhile, a witness identified as Pay said that he and 20 other customers were in the restaurant before the fire broke out.
He said they managed to run out of the restaurant after noticing smoke coming out from the roof of the cyber cafe located next to the restaurant.
