Minor fire breaks out at bar hotel

Kochi: A minor fire broke out in the storeroom of a bar hotel near Kaniyampuzha bridge at Vyttila on Thursday afternoon.
Sources said that the fire broke out around 2.30pm. The fire was reported from the storeroom where liquor bottlers were kept. Seven units from four fire and rescue stations rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Fire units from Tripunithura, Gandhinagar, Club Road and Thrikkakara fire stations toiled for nearly an hour to douse the fire.
Fire force sources said that there was a corridor between the storeroom and the main building of the hotel and this prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the building. Tripunithura fire station officer K Shaji led the operation. Sources said that the extent of damage was yet to be estimated.
