THANE: In a freak mishap, a heap of wooden and dried leaves stacked at the TMC Green waste management cell, Kanhaiya Nagar in Kopri, Thane (E) caught fire following a short circuit on Saturday morning, officials said. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
The blaze was reported around 3.20am due to a short circuit in the systems at the godown stacking wooden sticks, green waste and dried garbage. As all the materials stored were flammable, the fire spread quickly following which the Kopri Police officials, RDMC & Fire Brigade reached on site with 3- Fire engine & 3- Water tanker, 1-QRV and 1-JCB.
The blaze was controlled in few minutes. No casualty or injury was reported, said Avinash Sawant, chief at the regional disaster management cell, Thane.
Further investigations into the incident will be undertaken, said officials.
