Fire breaks out at plastic factory in Ludhiana’s Neechi Mangali

Updated: 2022-04-05

As many as 25-30 fire tenders were sent to the spot to douse the flames.

LUDHIANA: A major fire broke out in a plastic factory, Sham and Company, at Neechi Mangali in Focal Point Phase 8, Ludhiana on Tuesday morning.

The factory was closed at the time of incident, therefore there was no loss of life or injury to anybody.

The fire fighters controlled the flames in two hours, but it took another three hours to control it completely.

The fire officials however refused from divulging exact cause behind fire incident.

As many as 25-30 fire tenders were sent to the spot to douse the flames.

The fire took place in that part of unit where plastic was stored in large quantity. The fire officials however had to push hard as there was hardly any fire safety arrangement in the unit to control the situation.

Fire station officer Maninder Singh said, “We got the information at around 5am about fire incident in this unit. The fire tenders were pressed into action. There are industrial units all around so workers remain in large number. Here in this unit fire was at ground and first floor of the unit.”

He said thick smoke was coming out of the first floor and it created tough time for the firemen to control the situation too.

He shared that they controlled fire by 7am but it final operation came to end at 10 am because plastic stock was there and they could not take any chance.

The officials claimed that now summer season had started so more fire incidents are expected to be reported as compared to previous months.

The officials claimed that factory units are vulnerable to fire incidents so owners should make appropriate arrangements in their units.
