NASHIK: A fire broke out at the Nandur Madhyameshwar bird sanctuary in Nashik on Monday night.
Dry plants in some patches on less than 1 hectare were gutted in fire.
Forest officials doused the fire by 6am on Tuesday.
“The water level of the wetland has reduced due to summer and some water plants on the upper side have become dry,” said range forest officer Shekhar Deokar.
Deokar said that the exact reason of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
