Massive fire breaks out in automobile showroom in Lucknow, no injuries reported

Updated: 2022-04-25

LUCKNOW: A massive fire broke out at a three-storey Japanese automobile showroom located in Chinhat locality of Lucknow on Monday noon. No injuries was reported in the incident, but it was a narrow escape for six workers who were trapped in the fire. They were successfully rescued later.
Goods worth several lakhs including old cars were gutted. The extent of the fire was so intense that the fire-department had to rope in 12 fire tenders to douse the flames.

The emanating flames spread panic and fear in the locality and caused the traffic to come to standstill.

Cloud of smoke hovering over the triple-storey windows touched the skyline which wore darkness in the bright sunny noon. The smoke was even visible from as far as 2km.
Chief fire officer, Vijay Kumar Singh, said that around 11.30am the fire control room was informed about the incident.

“Twelve fire-tenders were engaged in containing the blaze. It took around two hours to douse the flames,” said Singh.
Preliminary reports suggest that the fire broke out due a short circuit in the air conditioner vent.
The showroom was stashed with a lot of inflammable substances which further stoked the fire. He also added that there was no space for venting out of air which caused the fire to rage on. Finally hydraulic platform was used to break the window panes and extinguish the fire.
