Over 35 shanties gutted, five cattle dead in Delhi slum fire

New Delhi: More than 35 shanties were gutted in a fire in southwest Delhi’s Joga Bai extension’s Batla House in Jamia Nagar on Monday. Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said no one was injured in the incident.
At 3.15 pm, fire department said, they received a call about the fire in a slum cluster in Batla House area. “We sent 11 fire tenders to the spot. Five cattle including three cows and two buffaloes died in the incident,” said Atul Garg, DFS chief. “Around 35-40 huts had caught fire, which was doused by 4:40 pm,” he said, adding that the cause of the fire was being ascertained.
