PUNE: An eatery owner and his employee sustained severe burn injuries after an LPG cylinder caught fire and later exploded in their establishment in Chinchwad locality in Maharashtra’s Pune on Tuesday morning.
Owner Mani Tevar (32) and his employee Pradip Kumar (20) — both belonging to Chinchwad — have been admitted to separate hospitals for the treatment.
An officer from the Pimpri Chinchwad fire brigade told TOI that Tevar’s Shiva Snacks Center is located near Fattechand Jain School in Chinchwad.
“Around 9.15am, one of the cylinders in the snacks center caught fire and exploded. Tevar and Kumar, who were near the stove sustained burns,” the officer said.
He said that there were few customers in the center.
“None of them sustained injuries in the fire,” the officer said.
He said that two fire tenders from the main fire brigade center and one from Nigdi Pradhikaran were sent to the spot.
“Our men doused off the fire in 10 minutes and also removed the cylinders from there,” the officer said.
