Hyderabad: Lucky escape for 19 after massive fire breaks out in hospital
Updated: 2022-05-07
HYDERABAD: As many as 19 people, including patients, had a lucky escape after a fire broke out in a hospital at Saleem Nagar in Hyderabad.
The hospital, which has two attached building blocks, has a common passage to move from one block to another.
After the fire broke out and the smoke started to spread, all the persons in the building were evacuated and moved to the adjoining block, from where they were brought out. One block was ground-plus two-storey and another ground-plus three-storey.
“The multi-storey two building blocks, have been used both for hospital and residence. Five fire tenders were pressed in and the fire was doused,” fire department officials said.
It was around 7.30am, the fire department got a phone call about the fire in the hospital. “Had there been no inter-connected passageway, the situation would have been horrifying for these 19 people,” the officials said.
It took nearly an hour to douse the flame. One of the two buildings mostly got gutted. Officials are still investigating to know the source of the fire, including sabotage.
