Updated: 2022-05-05
Four people have died after a fire broke out in a residential area in Caloocan City on Thursday.
The fire erupted at C. Namie street in Barangay 37 and reached the first alarm at 12:51 p.m., according to an initial report by the Caloocan City Central Fire Station.
Of the four fatalities, two were found outside their homes, including one discovered under a burnt L300 van, according to a report by Manny Vargas on dzBB.
Three other houses were affected by the blaze, before it was declared under control at 1:22 p.m. and fire out at 1:40 p.m.
Authorities had difficulty putting out the fire due to a live wire blocking the passageways.
The Bureau of Fire Protection has already coordinated with Meralco to cut off the electricity in the area.
In a separate report by dzBB’s Rod Vega, the Philippine National Police forensic services identified the victims as Teresita Arevalo, her son Ricardo Arevalo; Cecillia Flores and her daughter Margaret Flores.
A resident identified as Danny Tambungi was injured and brought to a hospital.
The victims were together inside the house when the incident happened.
The BFP-Caloocan said four houses were destroyed while 15 families were affected by the fire.
Arson investigators are still determining the cause of the blaze as well as the cost of damages to property.
