At least 50 shops have been gutted in a fire in Chittagong’s Fatikchharhi.
The fire broke out at Bibirhat market around 7.30am on Tuesday, Fatikchharhi Police Station OC Shahjahan Bhuiyan said.
Two firefighting units after struggling for three and a half hours doused the blaze around 11am, Fire Service control room official Sarwar Jahan said.
An electric short circuit might have sparked the fire, the OC said.
