Jaipur: Panic prevailed at Rajiv Nagar in Hasanpura after a fire broke out when a scrap dealer was cutting an empty CNG cylinder with a metal cutter.
Six persons — a woman, four children and a 21-year-old man — sustained burns when the cylinder caught fire and exploded. All the injured were rushed to SMS Hospital and undergoing treatment.
According to police, the scrap dealer’s 21-year-old son Fareed Kabadi was cutting a cylinder used in vehicles when it exploded.
“Fareed was cutting the cylinder used in the vehicles with the the help of welding machine. A spark from the welding machine triggered the fire and the cylinder exploded,” said police.
“The fire was contained as people in the neighbourhood poured buckets of water,” said an officer of Sadar police station.
Sadar circle officer Zulfikar Ali said, “The fire was contained on time. Fareed was discharged from hospital while four children and a woman were undergoing treatment.”
