Fire at a closed paint factory: Four rescued by fire brigade

Bhopal: A major fire erupted at a closed paint factory in Govindpura industrial area in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Locals spotted the factory engulfed in flames and informed the fire control room. The fire triggered blasts in oil cans, cardboards, chemicals and thinner, kept in the factory due to which the fire spread. An alert fire brigade driver arranged water from the borewell of a neighbouring factory and rescued four people, who were trapped in a room behind the factory. When the fire started, there was no power supply in the factory.
Fire officer Rameshwar Neel said that the information about the fire at a closed factory in the industrial area was received at 4.40am. The factory was sealed by a bank. Fire brigade men reached the spot in five minutes but by that time the fire had spread all over. Fire brigade teams from Govindpura, Fatehgarh, Pul Bogda, and Mata Mandir fire stations were rushed to the spot along with water tankers. Fire safety employees controlled the fire after around four hours. The loss caused by the fire is being estimated.
Fire brigade driver Aslam Khan said that he immediately contacted the watchman of a neighbouring factory and arranged to refill the fire brigades from the borewell. He said that when they reached the spot they found that four members of the watchman’s family were stuck in a room behind the burning factory. Firefighters rescued a woman, her two daughters aged 22 years and 17 years along with an elderly man.
He said that there were 10 oil cans, cardboards, thinner and other inflammable goods stored in the closed factory. The main gate was jammed due to rust.
